Good Morning Fort Payne Alabama from historic down town Fort Payne Main Street. What an absolute joy it is to see all of the new activity going on in our downtown. Fort Payne became an official designated Main Street in 2015 and the Fort Payne Main Street board decided on what area of downtown Fort Payne would be considered as the designated district. The Fort Payne Main Street district goes from 3rd street south (Westmoreland Tire) to 8th street north (W.B. Davis Mill crossing). This is one of the largest designated Main Street areas in all of Alabama.
We have a new eating and drinking establishment opening soon in the heart of town. Be looking for F.C. Weiss Pub and Eatery opening tentatively Labor Day weekend! We are very excited about this special place and a very special family opening in downtown Fort Payne. This is very meaningful to Fort Payne Main Street. We have been working with this family to help them find a place for this business since January of 2018. This is why I tell people sometimes it takes time.
We had an extremely active and fun past Saturday on Fort Payne Main Street. We started out with our second annual Pete the Cat festival and we welcomed once again Pete’s creator Fort Payne’s own James Dean. Pete also showed up for pictures with the kids and adults. We had a really great crowd with James signing over 100 items. The Chick-fil-A cow and car made an appearance. There were Pete the Cat coloring pages, Pete the Cat storytelling, and many other activities. Of course James was signing books and prints for the kids. Thanks James for loving Fort Payne and always calling Fort Payne home and for being so gracious with everyone.
The afternoon brought us to our Fort Payne Main Street Latino Festival with well over three hundred in attendance and it was an absolutely wonderful time. This was quite the cultural event with food, music, dancers and beautiful dancing. There was nothing but laughter, music and pure joy and fun. It was truly one of Fort Payne Main Street’s best events and we look forward to doing it bigger and better next year! Please remember to visit our Fort Payne Main Street farmers market every Saturday morning 7-12 and Monday afternoons 3-6 located next to the city park. We love Fort Payne Main Street!
