Well good morning my faithful followers and friends of Fort Payne Main Street. It has really been a beautiful Spring and we are well on our way to Summertime! I can remember one of my all-time favorite songs of summer was Mungo Jerrys classic hit “In the Summer Time” that I always loved. Music is such a wonderful memory but alas let us talk Fort Payne. Well today is one of Fort Payne’s coolest events our Third Saturday Sunset Cruise-In. Amelia Landstreet and her entire team have done such an incredible job with this monthly event. If you have never attended please come give it a try and enjoy cool cars, food, fellowship and of course music. I hope to see everyone out walking our historic downtown streets and enjoying this great community event.
I want to say thanks to everyone that came out to our Main Street fundraiser at The Vintage 1889 that featured ULA a Jimmy Buffet tribute band, needless to say all that attended had a great time singing along to some classic Jimmy Buffett tunes.
Well it is just about time for our Fort Payne Main Street Farmers Market to start back on Saturday, May 25th. This will be our fourth year and our second year at our great location right across the street from the Coal and Iron Building, right next to the City Park. We have wonderful local farmers who give us great products that are certified as fresh from the farm and most of the time picked early that morning right before they bring them to town. It just does not get any better than that.
Our wonderful neighbors in beautiful Mentone, Alabama is having their annual Rhododendron festival starting today Saturday May 18th and going through Sunday the 19th, This is one of the state’s premier arts, crafts, food and music events. Mentone is one of the most unique destinations not only in the great state of Alabama but in these great United States of America. Mentone, Alabama literally has visitors from around the globe and I am sure it will be a melting pot this weekend and I think that is pretty cool. All of you Mentone visitors please take the time to stop by Fort Payne while you are in the area or be sure and come back at a later date. Keep up with us on our Facebook page.
