Good Morning Fort Payne friends and visitors from Fort Payne Main Street. We have a lot going on right here in our beautiful historic downtown Fort Payne. The weather over all has been inviting and beautiful. The pollen count has been a little high which means we are experiencing beautiful blooms everywhere but yellow pollen and lots of sneezes. We are thankful for the beauty we have here.
Remember that Saturday will be our first Third Saturday Sunset Cruise-In for 2019. We are looking forward to seeing all those incredible vehicles of past years and enjoying the music, the sales at the shops and all the choices of delicious food. So come out, bring the family and walk around downtown and enjoy visiting with your neighbors and listening to some great music. It is a fun community activity.
While downtown check out Curvy K, our new boutique store with beautiful, affordable plus-size clothes. It is located at 105 Gault Avenue North next to The Spot Coffee Shop. Fort Payne Footworks has a great sale going on and will be open during Third Saturday. We also have The Strand, Fontana’s and The Spot offering a wide choice of tasty food. Roger’s Music has so much to offer for your music needs while Katherine’s Framing offers original art, photography and prints and remember they do beautiful framing for all the styles of your home or office. These are just a few of the businesses you can shop in historic downtown Fort Payne Main Street.
Did you know that our Fort Payne Main Street Farmers Market is a state certified market? Well it is. I attended the annual State Farmers Market meeting in Cullman this week. It was great networking with other Farmers Market managers and getting the updated information. We are looking forward to our Farmers Market opening in May that is located at the corner of Gault Avenue North and Fifth across from the Coal and Iron Building. If you are a local farmer and would like to participate please call 256-996-2131 or come by the office for an application and guidelines. “Farming Feeds Alabama!”
Put Saturday, May 11 on your calendar for “A Tribute to Jimmy Buffet” by ULA at Vintage 1889 for a fun night of entertainment. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are 30–35 dollars at the door. Wear your island attire and enjoy some great music!
