Good morning my Fort Payne Main Street friends! We are well on our way into the Holiday season here in our beautiful historic downtown district which will soon be all about the Christmas season with the sights and sounds in the streets. All of our merchant stores downtown are having sales and extended hours. This is truly the most wonderful time of the year. I truly believe that we time travel back in our mind to our childhood Christmas and those magical memories that reawaken and bring a smile to our face. That is the part of Christmas that we as parents and grandparents want to pass down to our children and grandchildren.
Now with all that being said, y’all come to downtown Fort Payne, shop with our local merchants, enjoy the small town Christmas magic with our outdoor speakers playing Christmas music, strolling the sidewalks, enjoying the Christmas lights the city puts up while keeping your money in town. Fort Payne is changing and definitely for the better because it gives our community choices and reasons to stay in Fort Payne and shop, eat and find live entertainment. This is what will keep Fort Payne homegrown entrepreneurs in our historic growing town, it will also attract entrepreneurs from out of town to us and I can speak as someone who knows that has already happened and will continue to happen as we move forward.
Speaking of our downtown merchants we are heading into an activity filled time here at Fort Payne Main Street with the Fort Payne Christmas in the park on Friday December 7th starting at four o’clock until seven that evening with all kind of activities for everyone. The next Friday on December 14th is the Christmas parade starting at six p.m. This year’s Grand Marshal is Fort Payne’s own Alabama Band. These are very exciting times here at your Fort Payne Main Street and when I say your town because it is your town that you grew up in or the one you visited and feel in love with and decided to be a part of by moving here and living here. There is great excitement in our community with the revitalization of our historic downtown district. There are shopping and dining opportunities like never before with more on the way and it is only getting better here on Main Street.
