Good morning Fort Payne, Alabama and happy sunny Saturday morning! What a pleasure it is to represent our beautiful historic town as your director of Main Street. We are watching a slow and steady renewal of our downtown district and it is by design. When the Main Street project was initiated the wheels were put in place to start this project. There is a plan and a purpose to the renewal of Fort Payne but it does take time, patience and money and entrepreneurs with a vision so when you see good things happening just realize it is by design.
I have to revisit our Radiovizions from a few weeks ago. Jess Goggans was the musical guest but I did not know at the time she was going to have her dad the one and only Tony Goggans show up and entertain also. I have to tell you it was very special night with just that but then the one and only Jeffery Alan Cook showed up and got on stage and shredded for everyone. Let me tell you people Jeff has still got it, thanks for stopping by Jeff it was a treat.
The third year of our Fort Payne Main Street Farmers Market is going to kick off on Saturday May 5th and we are changing locations. We are moving to the parking lot in front of the Rotary Pavillion. This should make parking, getting in and out a little more convenient for our vendors and patrons. I had the pleasure of attending a farmers market managers meeting in Montgomery last week and I have such a love and appreciation for our local farmers. The work, dedication and love that farmers have are something we have tendency to take for granted. The best way we can say thank you is by when our local farmer markets are open please “trade” with them. I promise you will not be disappointed with the freshness and flavor of local farm to table fruits and vegetables…especially real tomatoes! Our Main Street farmers market is planning on some special events this summer to make your visit a little more special so be on the lookout for that on our Main Street Facebook page. Fort Payne Main Street board members and members are dedicated to the renewal, preservation, restoration of historic downtown district and we cordially invite you to join us in this movement.
