Hello Fort Payne Alabama from Fort Payne Main Street! It is with great pleasure that I am welcoming warmer temperatures and the blooms of daffodils on the side of the road. I am sure there will be other cold snaps, but I am so ready for Spring and sunshine!
The next time you are by the South I-59 interchange and the South Y, please take notice of the cleaning up and landscaping that is going on. The city has a new Beautification Crew that is paying special attention to keeping Fort Payne well maintained from one end to the other. Tim Williams has assembled a great crew with Butch Gregg as the crew leader, and we can already see the difference.
With Spring on the way, many of our regular Fort Payne activities will be starting again. Radio Visions will begin in March on every first and third Thursday of each month at the Coal and Iron Building, the Third Saturday Sunset Cruise-In will begin in April and our Farmers Market will begin in May, but will be located in front of the Rotary Pavilion. Check the following Facebook pages for upcoming events: Fort Payne Main Street, Third Saturday Sunset Cruise-In, Fort Payne Events, and Fort Payne Chamber of Commerce. With better weather on the way, we hope to get the other outdoor speakers up and running through our Main Street area in time for all these Spring events. It will be a fun enhancement of our downtown area.
Speaking of music, Maury Roberts and the Boom Days Committee are looking forward to the 13th year of our award winning festival. Each year the activities grow and get better. They are already meeting on a monthly basis to make this another successful Boom Days.
I want to extend a very special thank you and good bye to Victoria Elton. Victoria did an amazing job as the City Events Coordinator and was a tremendous help with Boom Days as well as helping with all Fort Payne events. I wish Victoria all the best in her future, she will be missed.
Success in Sixty will be this Thursday at 11:30 at the Chamber of Commerce. This month our speaker is Julie May of Anything Creative. She will be sharing information about Google Analytics. The $10 admission includes lunch.
Spring is in the air and so are the many activities of Fort Payne.
